the growing old blog

Hi all my name is John Mc Evatt and I run the project. I take young people on our estate into the care homes ,nursing homes and sheltered housing to work with and build relationships with the elderly on our estate. We deliver what we like to call ,pamper sessions,quiz nights and entertainment evenings but our main job is to bridge the generation gap.Most of the young people are from Parklands High School ranging from 12 – 18 yrs of age. The Parent Hub

Hi Speke your mind, We are The Parent Hub a brand new exciting project due to open march 2012.We plan to provide services to the local community to help and engage parents and individuals by offering a unique reliable setting that allows them to access services that may have been to hard access in the past by empowering parents and those who support parents to access support guidance and information.

The Parent Hub will provide a soft play supervised area for children to allow them to exercise through play allowing physical, emotional and social skills to be advanced. Children will be able to explore the play area have a go at art and crafts and also have quiet time with story sessions.

Attitude Drama School

Attitude Drama School currently offers sessions to children and young people aged 6-19 in the Speke area of Liverpool. Our aims are to create issue based theatre within disadvantaged communities that help make a difference or raise an awareness. Our previous project was called ‘A loan in Liverpool’ and we worked in partnership with South Liverpool Homes Junior Board.

Our current project is called ‘It Could Be You’ an intergenerational play based on Alzheimer’s and the effects it has on families. We are currently working in partnership with Liverpool Mutual Homes tennants aged 55+ and young people aged 11-19.

Our current sessions;

Wednesday 6-8pm Attitude Seniors aged 11-19 (free memberships)

Saturday’s 12-2.15pm Attitude Juniors aged 6-11 (Get intouch for membership fee prices)

Speke Adventure Playground

Hi this is Speke Adventure Playgrounds (locally known as the Venny) first blog. We are an open access play provision for children aged between 8 and 16, parents are always welcome to bring younger  children. We have a purpose-built building, a large playground and multi sports pitch. We provide a wide range of activities all free of charge, including, art and crafts, sports, indoor and outdoor play, cookery, trips and much more. Introduction to Speke Catholic Youth Service

This is our first blog post introducing you to Speke Catholic Youth Service.  

We are based at St. Ambrose Youth Base, Heathgate Ave, which is in east Speke. We run different projects and work with schools in the area. Some of the projects we run are ; Duke of Edingburgh Awards Group covering bronze, silver and gold award, transition group working with year 6 children getting ready to move up to secondary school. We do other groups and acitivities as determined by young people.
